Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)


Kuena is our charitable platform for social impact. It supports projects that promote human development through health, education, employment, culture, and sport. These initiatives have already positively impacted thousands of people.
In 2024, Kuena invested more than $1m USD in various social development projects, making a difference to thousands of lives.

The work of Kuena is furthering all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Our Ekoar project inspires people to see waste differently through education, community action, and creative reuse. From school programmes and clean-up drives to parks built from recycled materials and support for waste pickers, we are building awareness into lasting local impact.

Transforming sustainable communities
A development that transforms vulnerable populations into sustainable communities, with more than 12,000 people already impacted.

• Expanding the Camizungo School so more children can access education

Caring to multiply
An institution dedicated to education, health, and wellbeing, providing medical care for all children in partnership with the Anjos do Lar Clinic. More than 86 children in vulnerable situations have already been welcomed by the home.

Cultural support
Supporting internationally renowned Angolan artist, António Tomás Ana (aka. "Etona"), known for his sculptures and paintings with themes of Angolan and African culture.

Transforming lives with care and knowledge
Supporting clinics and professional training that expands access to therapeutic care for neurodivergent and socially vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

Promoting sport from school to life
A partnership with Refriango that takes sport to schools, helping young athletes develop sports skills and values, such as discipline, teamwork, respect, and resilience.

Music for all ages
Training more than 12 young Angolans in Brazil at the Neojiba music school, formed by maestro Ricardo Castro. Strengthening ties between Angola and Brazil through a meaningful and enriching cultural exchange.

• Sending more young musicians to Brazil

Preserving ocean habitats
An initiative to protect sea turtles in Angola through practical interventions and public awareness campaigns that promote caring for nature.

• Expanding the project along the entire length of the Lobito sandbank
• Constructing a visitor centre by 2027 to promote tourism in Benguela
• Partnering for knowledge exchange with the TAMAR project (Brazil) and Kitabanga (Angola)

Water is life
Supplying clean drinking water to the most disadvantaged villages in the Commune of Malembo. This programme, structured in three phases, covers 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has already served 4,000 people.

Illuminated hands
Providing 130+ midwives with training, teaching materials, and basic equipment to improve childbirth safety and newborn care. Delivered with the support of an obstetrics team from Cabinda.

Letters that set you free
A literacy programme based on the needs of local women, providing classes at the Malembo headquarters, transportation, adjusted schedules (8-10am), daily programmes, teaching materials, and snacks. 130 women have already been through the programme.
