Modernising the existing, creating the new
This project, led by Imbono, aims to modernise the Américo Boavida Hospital in Luanda – renovating existing buildings and constructing new facilities to improve health services.
Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, with a total of 1,380 beds after renovation. The renovation includes an outpatient building, infectious diseases centre, training space, and morgue. It also involves installing medical equipment and utilities infrastructure.

The Américo Boavida Hospital in Luanda needs investment, modernisation, and reconstruction to serve Luanda’s growing population. The hospital offers limited care capacity, has a shortage of beds, and needs more advanced medical equipment.
We are providing a structured financing line of USD 131.6 million and overseeing the hospital’s renovation and expansion. This includes building a new outpatient facility, infectious diseases centre, training space, and morgue, plus installing medical equipment and infrastructure such as water, electricity, and sewage.
This will create an expanded hospital capacity of 1,300 beds, along with modern facilities and services that will serve a larger number of patients and strengthen Angola’s health system.
