Leadership on the field: Gemcorp & Acqua

April marked a significant step forward in strengthening Benguela’s water infrastructure. The Luongo Water Treatment Plant became the focal point during a technical visit from CEOs Marcelo Hofke GEMCORP Angola and Marcus Weyll GEMCORP ICS, who reviewed the progress of ACQUA-led projects in Benguela, Baía Farta, Catumbela, and Lobito.
ACQUA’s technical team presented detailed updates on emergency interventions and assisted operations. Highlights included the full rehabilitation of ETA Luongo, the establishment of a new Operational Control Center, and several upgrades now in their final stage of completion.
The agenda also covered field visits to two socio environmental programmes currently underway: Project Cambeú, supporting marine preservation, and the OMEVA Internship Program, focused on training local youth for technical roles in the water sector.
This joint effort between GEMCORP and ACQUA enhances the technical, social, and environmental foundations of a more efficient and resilient water system for the region
